There are a number of ways to treat chronic angina. Your cardiologist may suggest a combination of the following options depending on your condition and medical history:2

  • Lifestyle changes
  • Antianginal medications
  • Medical procedures, such as bypass surgery or angioplasty

The goal of treatment of chronic angina is to:

  • Reduce pain and discomfort and how often angina occurs6
  • Reduce the impact angina has on your quality of life7
  • Reduce the risk of heart attack by treating the heart problem that is causing your angina6
