Voicing your feelings

Speak to your cardiologist about your angina

Voicing your feelings to your cardiologist about the impact that angina has on your life is very important. It is helpful for your cardiologist to know not only about the symptoms you are experiencing, but also about any activities you have limited or given up. Share how you are feeling and the impact your angina has on you both physically and emotionally.

Speak from the heart. Tell your cardiologist:

  • How your angina attacks feel
  • How often attacks occur
  • How long attacks last
  • If you have had to cut back on activities

Write it down

People experience angina differently. You can help your cardiologist better understand your angina symptoms and how angina is affecting your life. Keep a log of your angina attacks. Record:

  • The time of day an attack happened
  • What you were doing at the time of the attack
  • How long the attack lasted
  • What the symptoms were
  • How severe the symptoms were
  • What you did to relieve the attack

Prepare for your cardiologist appointment

It is important to prepare before your cardiologist visit so you have everything your cardiologist needs and so that you will get all your questions asked and answered.
